A Very Personal Lesson

Gratitude

In all my human weakness
Within my mortal view
Flaws and imperfection
Were all I saw in you.

I placed myself above you
So sure I mattered more;
I felt such selfish pride
I chose not to ignore.

Then God gave me a vision
And suddenly I saw
In my foolish stupor
I was the one so flawed.

So quietly you’d loved me
And I just couldn’t see.
God knew that I would need you;
You were His gift to me.
